The perfect age what counts is desire if its drudgery or unappy you can learn when youre little it but at your energies and you have lot of music to.

No, you can learn at any age. It is never too late to begin. I would suggest that you start learning piano first. It is much easier to learn to read two staves of music (treble and bass) than it is to learn one (treble) and then try to learn both, in my opinion.
Also, I highly recommend private lessons. You will make progress much faster and that will give you more incentive to keep playing.

Never too old, but you will need to commit some serious practice time. Think in term of 3-5 years to develop elemental proficiency.
